ABC Ball Park ABC Ball Park

Basketball - 2017 Season

ABC's youth recreational basketball program is open to girls and boys ages 4 through 14.

HOW CAN I PLAY ??

In-person sign-up sessions for ABC's youth recreational basketball program (2017 season) have already been held, however...

ABC will continue to accept late registrations on an "as space available" basis. We do all we can to place everyone on a team, but eventually teams do fill up (even newly created ones), so we cannot make an absolute guarantee of placement on a team.  Late registrations are processed in the order received, so the sooner you send your information, the better your chances of being placed.

To submit a late registration, go to the Contact ABC page and send the following information:
     -- Name of player (child)
-- Full date of birth (month/day/year)
     -- Gender (male / female)
     -- Name of parent/guardian
     -- Best contact telephone number
-- Indicate if you are willing to assist with coaching or managing a team

You will be contacted if there is available space on a team in your child's age group.

NOTE:  If you were on an ABC team last year and intend on playing for the same team again this year, you do not need to re-register.  Please contact your team manager or coach to make sure they know you are returning.

Go to our Basketball Sign Ups page for additional details.

=== IMPORTANT NOTE ===

Formation of teams also depends on having parents or other adults help to coach and operate the team.  Youth sports league teams can exist only with responsible parental/adult involvement.  If you want to know what is involved in coaching or running a team, just ASK!  (See more on parental involvement below...)

Who can play?

Age levels for Youth League basketball teams are 9 through 14.  Younger players (those with birth dates from January 2008 through December 2012) are eligible to participate in ABC's Training League program.

See the basketball age chart for the specific age division assignment based on date of birth.  Players MUST be at least 4 years old BEFORE January 1, 2017 (i.e. date of birth PRIOR to January 1, 2013).  Those with a date of birth BEFORE January 1, 2002 are too old to play in our basketball program.

There are no residency requirements to play in our sports programs.  ABC Ball Park is a not-for-profit youth sports organization and is collectively owned by the families whose children participate in its sports programs.  If you can get here, you can play here!

Where is ABC Ball Park?

ABC Ball Park is located at 10050 Livingston Avenue, St. Ann, MO -- just north of St. Charles Rock Road and St. Gregory Lane - about 1 mile east of Lindbergh Blvd.  Get map…

What is the cost?

There is no initial up front cost to register as an individual player at ABC.  Players pay their share of the team fee when placed on a team.  The fee shown below is for an ENTIRE TEAM -- this amount is divided equally among all team players.

Team registration fees are:
$350 - Training League teams (Pee Wee 1 and Pee Wee 2) – 10 game season
     $625 - Youth League (ages 9 through 14) – 10 game season

Once placed on a team, additional costs may be incurred for team expenses – such as for uniforms and/or team equipment, when needed.  While teams are encouraged to keep these expenses as low as possible, players and parents should be aware that these costs depend on the decisions made by the team as a whole and are shared among all players.

Teams may attempt to offset these additional costs (and perhaps even the team fee) by obtaining sponsors, conducting fund raisers, etc.  These activities, when conducted, are the sole responsibility of each team.

When are the games played?

The 2017 season will begin in early January and continue into early March.

Games are typically played on Monday through Friday evenings beginning at 6:00 pm and all day on Saturdays.  Occasional Sundays may be scheduled based on the need.

Training League teams typically play games on Friday nights, Saturday mornings / afternoons, and possibly some Sunday afternoons, but scheduling situations may cause some games to be played on other days of the week.

All of ABC's basketball teams (youth league and training league) play a 10 game season.

When are practices?

Practice schedules are determined by each individual team.

Photo ID Cards

Photo ID's are required for all basketball players.  New players to ABC or those with expired ID's must come to one of the scheduled ID card sessions scheduled prior to the season.  Read more for currently scheduled dates…

Bring the child (for a "photo” ID), proof of age (birth certificate or expired ID card), and $5.00.

ID cards are valid for 3 years and can be used for all ABC sport programs.  If you have a non-expired ID card from another sport, it can also be used for basketball.

How can parents help?

Parental volunteer involvement is crucial to the success of our youth sports programs.  Each team needs volunteers to help manage and coach, make phone calls, be a scorekeeper, etc.  The ABC basketball commissioners can give you guidance on what is required to manage or coach a youth team.

ABC Ball Park requires that background checks be performed on all volunteer managers and coaches.  The cost of up to three (3) background checks per team is included in the team fee.  The fee for additional background checks is $9 each.

Don’t just sit in the stands.  A group of kids needs parental volunteers to help them become a team.  Without the managers and coaches, the kids don’t play.  Come out and help guide your child and his teammates through their basketball experience.  Help teach the game, help teach sportsmanship!
